Sunday Psalm and Prayer

Psalm 1

Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel
   of the ungodly,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and
   night.
He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.

The ungodly are not so,
But are like the chaff which the wind drives
   away.
Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the
   judgement.
Nor sinners in the congregation of the
   righteous.
For the Lord knows the way of the
   righteous,
But the way of the ungodly shall perish.

New King James Version

Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen

'Algae' a Substitute for Oil, Says Obama.

  • We've been screaming drill, drill for years.
  • He will allow Mexicans to drill in the gulf.
  • It is not consistent with his stopping our drilling in the gulf after the rig explosion two years ago.
  • 'Algae', must be a joke.
  • Did he give up on solar energy?
  • We have a nut case for our leader. God help us.
An excerpt from the report, yes Obama said it.
"We’re making new investments in the development of gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel that’s actually made from a plant-like substance, algae -- you've got a bunch of algae out here," Obama said at the University of Miami today. "If we can figure out how to make energy out of that, we'll be doing alright. Believe it or not, we could replace up to 17 percent of the oil we import for transportation with this fuel that we can grow right here in America."
At five dollars or more a gallon, can we wait for this scheme to develop?  Can't wait for the year 2013.

    • U.S. government has it around 8 to 9 per cent.
    • Fiddling with the numbers. That's criminal.
    • Who can one trust, certainly not the government?
    An excerpt from the report.
    What is the current percentage of working-age Americans, eligible to participate in the civilian labor force, but not currently working?  Answer: 36.3 percent.
    That’s the worst labor participation rate in three decades, and it’s part of the worst employment picture we’ve seen since the Great Depression.  Labor force participation is the number we should really be looking at, even more than the unemployment figures cooked up on the monthly basis by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.  Those figures have their uses as well, but it seems reasonable to measure the overall health of the economy by the number of people who simply are not participating in the labor force.

    Compares to the Great Depression. In some areas, it must be much worse, for example , Detroit.

    Romney's Old(Back In 2008) 'Let Detroit Go Bankrupt.' He Is Taking Heat Today for It.

    • Good advice.
    • Start over, disfranchisement of  the unions for the first step.
    An excerpt from the report.
    Both GM and Chrysler did go through just the sort of "managed bankruptcy" that Romney as advocated in his column. The difference is they did it with government support. At the time of the column, the financial crisis had created an environment in which banks were reticent to lend the sort of money the auto companies were seeking. The White House has suggested that the companies thus could not have survived without the government assistance, and would have had to liquidate.
