When thousands get home at night and charge the battery, where is the power going to come from?

Power grid is already stopped by Obama who is shutting down coal fired electricity source.
In cold climate, will the car have a heater? Severe cold may hinder battery output.
In hot Texas, how much drain on the battery if the air conditioner is on?
A bad investment, is my opinion.
